Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA) is a nationally recognized, research-based program that integrates the arts into reading, writing, math and science lessons in elementary and middle schools. OMA has become a leader in a national movment to integrate arts education into the core curriculum, with more than 19,000 students, 700 teachers and 53 professional artists in 42 schools in the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) participating.

How do I become an OMA Teaching Artist? All OMA Artists must first attend our week-long Teaching Artist Summer Institute (TASI). Two sessions are offered each summer, the dates for 2009 are:
You must attend the entire session from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm each day. Note: attending the Teaching Artist Summer Insititute does not guarantee a position in the OMA Program. We do, however, hire Teaching Artists from the pool of those who have completed the Teaching Artist Summer Institute. A registration form will be posted at this site during March 2009. |
